The State Bar of Tennessee requires attorneys to complete 15 CLE credit hours every year. The 15 TN CLE hours must include 3 hours of Ethics / Professionalism courses.

CLE hours may be earned via in-person or distance-learning format. Distance learning includes both online programs and “real-time” or “streamed” seminars.

Tennessee attorneys must complete their CLE requirements by December 31st each year. 

Attorneys can carry over 15 credits from one compliance period to the next.

Tennessee attorneys have until March 31st following their deadline to self-report their 15 annual CLE credits (including 3 hours of ethics/professionalism), using their online portal at the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education (TN Commission).
