South Carolina CLE Requirements

South Carolina requires attorneys to complete a total of 14 CLE credit hours each year. Eight of these CLE hours may be completed online. Every 2 years, the 14 SC CLE hours must include at least 2 hours of Ethics or Professional Responsibility courses and 1 hour of substance abuse.

South Carolina attorneys must complete their CLE requirement by February 28th of each year.

Attorneys may carry forward up to 14 credit hours, including Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility (LEPR) credits, from one reporting period to the next.
While general and ethical credits can be carried over, on-demand credit hours cannot be carried forward.

The SC MCLE reporting year runs from March 1 through the last day of February.
Attorneys must report CLE credit hours by March 1st each year, and can self-report by entering course IDs on their SC Commission on CLE website
