New Mexico attorneys must complete their CLE requirement by December 31st of each year.

The State Bar of New Mexico requires attorneys to complete 12 CLE credit hours every year.

The 12 NM CLE hours must include 

• 2 hours in Ethics and Professionalism

• 1 hour in Equity in Justice

All 12 credits may be taken online with on-demand programs, including the 3 specialty credits.

New Mexico attorneys can carry over into the next reporting period up to 12 CLE credits, including 2 ethics and 1 Equity in Justice (EIJ) credits.

However, only 4 self-study credits can be part of the 12-hour carryover total, with the remainder being live credits.

Attorneys must report CLE credits by February 1st.

• Compliance deadline: December 31st.

• Reporting Deadline: February 1st

Log in to the State Bar of New Mexico's portal to self-report. Record the certificate's course ID.

Be sure to keep certificates for four years.
