Maine attorneys must complete their CLE requirement by December 31st every year.

Maine requires attorneys to complete 12 CLE credit hours every year. The 12 ME CLE hours must include at least 1 hour of ethics and 1 hour of avoidance of harassment and discrimination.

Seven hours must be completed through live courses, including the required specialty credits. The remaining 5 credits may be taken via on-demand courses.

Maine attorneys can carry over up to 10 CLE credit hours to the next calendar year, but with a restriction that no more than 5 of those carry-over hours can be from self-study programs, and specific ethics/harassment credits usually can't be carried over.

Maine attorneys have until December 31st every year to report their CLE hours earned.
