Iowa requires attorneys to complete 15 CLE credit hours each year.

The 15 IA CLE hours must include 1 hour of Ethics and 1 hour of Wellness or Diversity. 

Iowa attorneys must complete and report their CLE requirement by December 31st each year. 

Iowa attorneys may carry forward a maximum of 30 hours per year, but specific rules apply, especially for ethics, diversity, and wellness credits, which generally convert to general credits and have limits when carried over.

Please note: Attorneys will no longer be able to carry forward ethics hours (other than as general CLE) and will need to attend one hour of legal ethics CLE and one hour of CLE accredited for attorney wellness OR for diversity/inclusion.

Iowa attorneys are required to file their reports electronically by logging into the Office of Professional Regulation website, completing their online transcript, and submitting their annual CLE reports.

Reporting deadline is March 10th.
